Navy Apprentice Recruitment 2026: Notification Out for Various Posts

Naval Ship Repair Yard (NSRY), Sri Vijaya Puram has released the official notification for enrolment of Technician (Vocational) Apprentice Programme – IT-03 Batch 2026-27. The recruitment is being conducted for 50 Apprentice vacancies in 13 designated trades under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.

Eligible Indian National candidates, both Male and Female, who have passed Matriculation/Class 10th and ITI in the relevant trade under NCVT/SCVT can apply online. The apprenticeship training will be for a period of one year, and the training is tentatively scheduled to commence from 01 December 2026.

Navy Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Age Limit

The minimum age is 18 years as on one day before the date of commencement of the Technician (Vocational) Apprentice Programme for IT-03 Batch. There is no upper age limit for apprenticeship training as per the applicable Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship guidelines.

Navy Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

The selection will be made through a merit-based process followed by Interview, Document Verification and Medical Examination. A preliminary merit list will be prepared trade-wise and category-wise on the basis of aggregate percentage of marks obtained in ITI and Class 10th.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at the Apprentice Training School, Naval Ship Repair Yard, Sri Vijaya Puram. The Interview will carry 50 marks, and candidates will also be tested for technical skills in their respective trade.

The final merit list will consider the interview marks. In case of a tie, the candidate’s date of birth will be considered, with the elder candidate placed higher. Further ties will be resolved alphabetically based on the candidate’s name as mentioned in the Class 10th certificate.

Candidates selected for apprenticeship will also have to undergo the prescribed medical examination.

Navy Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Reservation

Reservation will be applicable as per the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992 and the applicable rules for the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

• Reservation for SC/ST/OBC and other applicable categories will be provided as per rules.
• 3% of vacancies are horizontally reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwD), subject to eligibility and applicable fitness criteria.
• 3% of overall vacancies are reserved for Ex-Servicemen, their children and children of Armed Forces Personnel as per the applicable provisions.
• Horizontal reservation vacancies will be adjusted against the appropriate category.
• Unfilled vacancies will not be carried forward as backlog to the next enrolment.

Navy Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Stipend

Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the Apprenticeship Rules, 1992, or as revised by the Government from time to time.

The stipend will be subject to registration on the online apprenticeship portal and execution of a valid apprenticeship contract.

Navy Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Training Details

The selected candidates will undergo one year of apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, 1961 and Apprenticeship Rules, 1992.

The training is tentatively scheduled to commence on 01 December 2026. Selected candidates will have to execute an apprenticeship contract through the online apprenticeship portal.

After successful completion of the apprenticeship period, eligible apprentices will appear for the proficiency test conducted by the concerned apprenticeship agency/authorized authority. Candidates who qualify the examination will be issued a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) by the Directorate General of Training (DGT).

Completion of apprenticeship does not guarantee employment in Naval Ship Repair Yard, Sri Vijaya Puram.

How to Apply for Navy Apprentice Recruitment 2026

Eligible candidates are required to apply online only through the designated apprenticeship recruitment portal. Candidates should first complete the required registration and then fill in the online application form carefully.

Applicants must upload clear and readable scanned documents in the prescribed format and size. The passport-size photograph should be in JPEG/JPG format, with a blue background and size of approximately 3.5 cm × 4.5 cm, with file size up to 200 KB. Other required documents should be uploaded as specified in the notification.

Candidates should enter their personal details, educational qualifications, ITI details, category information and other required information correctly. After submitting the application, candidates should retain a copy of the application/acknowledgement for future use. No hard copy of the application is required to be sent to NSRY.
