SBI Clerk Recruitment 2026 State Bank of India (SBI) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales) in the clerical cadre. A total of 9,124 vacancies have been announced, including regular and backlog vacancies across 24 States/UTs.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the online mode from 11 August 2026 to 31 August 2026. The fee has to be paid online. Once submitted, the application fee is non-refundable.

SBI Clerk Vacancy 2026

SBI has announced 9,124 Junior Associate vacancies under this recruitment drive. These include 7,680 regular vacancies and 1,444 backlog vacancies.

The vacancies are distributed among different SBI circles covering 24 States and Union Territories. Candidates can apply for vacancies in only one State/UT.

Applicants should also note that they must have proficiency in the specified local language of the State/UT for which they are applying.

Educational Qualification

Candidates should have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government.

Candidates who are currently studying in the final year or final semester of graduation can also apply provisionally. However, they must obtain proof of passing their graduation examination by 31 December 2026.

Candidates possessing an Integrated Dual Degree (IDD) must ensure that the date of passing their IDD is on or before 31 December 2026.

Certain eligible Ex-Servicemen with the prescribed Indian Army/Navy/Air Force educational certificates may also apply as per SBI’s recruitment rules.

SBI Clerk Age Limit 2026

The candidate’s age should be between 20 and 28 years as on 1 April 2026.

According to the notification, the candidate should have been born between 2 April 1998 and 1 April 2006, both dates inclusive.

SBI Clerk Salary

The SBI Junior Associate post offers an attractive salary package along with various allowances and benefits.

The starting Basic Pay is ₹26,730, which includes two advance increments available to graduates.

The total starting emoluments for a newly recruited graduate Junior Associate posted in a metropolitan city such as Mumbai can be around ₹46,000 per month, depending on applicable allowances and the place of posting.

SBI Clerk Selection Process 2026

The selection process consists of the following stages:

1. Preliminary Examination
2. Main Examination
3. Local Language Proficiency Test, wherever applicable

The Preliminary Examination is used for shortlisting candidates for the Main Examination. Marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination are not added to the final merit score.

SBI Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

The Preliminary Examination contains three sections.

Each section has a separate time limit.

There will be a negative marking of 1/4 mark for every incorrect answer.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Examination based on their overall performance in the Preliminary Examination.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam Pattern 2026

The Main Examination consists of four sections:

A negative marking of 1/4 mark will apply to incorrect objective answers.

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the Main Examination, subject to fulfillment of all other eligibility conditions.

Local Language Proficiency Test

The Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT) will be applicable to provisionally selected candidates who have not studied the required local language in Class 10 or Class 12.

Candidates who provide valid educational proof showing that they studied the specified language may be exempted from this test.

The prescribed qualifying standards and applicable relaxation will be as per SBI recruitment rules.

SBI Clerk 2026 Special Benefit for SBI Apprentices

Certain SBI-trained apprentices who satisfy the conditions mentioned in the notification can receive an additional benefit in the Main Examination.

Eligible apprentices who completed the required branch experience and meet the prescribed conduct and performance requirements may receive a bonus equivalent to 2.5% of the maximum Main Examination marks, i.e. 5 marks out of 200.
